#Justin Bieber was offered $5 million to perform at the Republican National Convention that took place on Monday, July 18 through Thursday, July 21, 2016, at the Quicken Loans Area in Cleveland, Ohio.
If Bieber had accepted the $5 million offer, it would have been Bieber's largest amount for a single performance of only 45 minutes.
Bieber wanted to perform. In the end, he refused to do so for good reasons.
Reasons Justin Bieber refused the $5 million offer
The 22-year-old singer has no political affiliation since he is Canadian and cannot vote in the November election. So, why did he turn down such a hefty sum of money? The answer is quite simple.
Even though Bieber can't vote for Donald Trump himself, his appearance at the convention would have sent a message to his fans to vote for the #Republican nominee to become the 45th President of the United States.
Bieber's offer was not to endorse Donald Trump or to connect with Republicans. However, Bieber's manager Scooter Baun and his Creative Artist Agency (CAA) believed the performance would have been political. Therefore, advised Bieber to turn down the $5 million offer.
Why the GOP wanted Bieber to perform
It seems as though officials of the RNC wanted some star power, and GOP donors were willing to pay for it. Bieber's performance would have attracted young voters. Because of the advice of Bieber's manager and team, Bieber did not accept the offer.
Political affiliation of Bieber's team
The Baby Baby singer has no political affiliation himself because he is not an American citizen. However, his manager is an American citizen and identifies with the Democratic party. Scooter Braun is a devoted Hillary Clinton supporter.
Braun tweeted his personal support at the end of the Democratic National Convention that was held a week after the Republican National Convention.
The convention held in Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love, had a lot of star power and love. Katy Perry and Alicia Keys performed because they are dedicated supporters of Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee. #Celebrities
