If we all rattled off some of the key staples in our wardrobes, jeans would undoubtedly rank high on many of our lists. Rightfully so. That perfect cut is inherently effortless and classic and can be paired with pretty much any separate out there. On that note, I thought I'd spend a little time in my DMs to ask some of my favorite fashion follows about the specific pieces they're currently teaming with their go-to jeans—you know, to inspire your fall wardrobe selection if that's of interest.

The answers I got back were quite legit. While they run the gamut, the items in question do share similarities in that they're all incredibly versatile and simple to wear. Intrigued? Excellent. Keep scrolling to uncover the six fall items fashion girls are wearing with jeans. I'm talking everything from a trendy sweater silhouette to a sleek outerwear pick. You'll find a smattering of visual and shopping inspiration if something specific catches your eye. I also mixed in a few of my favorite jeans in case your denim offering could use a refresh as well.

Wondering What Shoes to Wear with Skinny Jeans? Try These 9 Trendy Styles - PureWow

Posted: 08 Oct 2020 08:11 AM PDT

Our love of skinny jeans has been going strong for over 15 years now. We've stuck by their side through aggressive bleaching and distressing, terrifying low rises and Crayola-bright washes. We've come out the other side older, wiser and with significantly better booty sculpting technology. That said, we still find ourselves occasionally wondering about the basics, like what shoes to wear with skinny jeans. In particular, we're looking for kicks that will make our outfits look modern and trendy—not like we're stuck in 2009.

In truth, just about any shoe can work with skinny jeans. But the key is in knowing which subtle details look au courant and which are a bit dated. Here, we outline nine shoe and skinny jean pairings that are most stylish right now.

1. Ballet Flats

We're very excited about the return of the ballet flat, but this particular jean/shoe combo threatens to leave us looking like a cast member from The Hills. There are few styling tricks to keep in mind that will keep your look firmly in 2020. First, opt for darker washes over lighter blues. Second, find a pair of jeans that hits somewhere between your ankle bone and the top of your foot—and no scrunched fabric, please. Finally, consider a trendy raw hem and pointy- or square-toe flats over rounded styles.

Shop ballet flats: Soludos ($98); Sam Edelman ($120); Linea Paolo ($140); Vince ($275; $165); Mansur Gavriel ($375)

3. Sneakers

Following the precedent set by flats and loafers, sneakers look best when paired with a shorter inseam (which may require rolling, hemming or chopping, if you're petite). While low-profile sneakers like Keds, Converse or Vans look great with the super tight fit of jeggings, we suggest going a bit looser for chunkier or taller kicks. That's because sticking a shoe with an exaggerated sole at the end of the long, lean line created by your skinnies can make your feet look large or even clownish. While you don't need to swap in straight-leg or boyfriend jeans, just pick some denim that isn't skin-tight.

Shop sneakers: Keds ($75); Cariuma ($79); Ecco ($160; $100); Greats ($179); M.Gemi ($198); Koio ($248)

7. Mid-Calf and Knee-High Boots

Baggy knees and awkwardly stuffed boot shafts are neither flattering nor stylish. Footwear that hits anywhere above the middle of your shin requires the slimmest-fitting denim you've got—yes, even if your boots are wide or slouchy on their own (two popular silhouettes for fall 2020). For styles that hit at or below the knee, it's most flattering to choose a dark wash, like a black or gray, especially if you're also wearing black boots.

Shop mid-calf and knee-high boots: Bleeker & Bond ($150; $75); Naturalizer ($230; $110); Paige ($598; $240); Tory Burch ($548); Loeffler Randall ($695)

Levi’s Will Pay You for Your Old Jeans - gearpatrol.com

Levi's constantly pushes the envelope for denim. In a myriad of ways, the mega-brand continues to innovate, from making jackets that control your smart phone to using lasers to fade denim. One of the brand's biggest pushes in recent years has been to make its blue jeans greener. Initiatives like its Water>Less program attempt to cut its water consumption while its RenewCell material miraculously takes recycled cotton and transforms it into completely new threads. Levi's is now taking two more significant steps toward sustainability and circular fashion.

Launching today, Levi's introduces its Levi's SecondHand program which allows customers to buy, as the name implies, pre-owned Levi's products. By selling used garments, CO2 emissions general waste is reduced drastically when compared to buying new garments. According to Levi's Chief Marketing Officer Jennifer Sey, that's about "80 percent of the CO2 emissions and 700 grams of waste compared to buying a new pair of Levi's."

In addition to selling used and vintage Levi's products, Levi's SecondHand will also allow customers to return used Levi's products back to the company in exchange for a gift card to use for future purchases. Customers can expect to receive between $15 and $35 for their used denim. Even if your denim is too worn to be resold, Levi's will still buy it for $5.

To handle this new infrastructure, Levi's teamed up with recommerce and logistics startup company TROVE to handle SecondHand's logistics and backend. This includes cleaning, inventory processing and fulfillment.

Brands buying back products to repair and resell to customers is becoming more mainstream. Patagonia, Taylor Stitch and A.P.C. are some of the more well-known brands that have done this. However, for a global brand as huge as Levi's, it's a big statement that will hopefully inspire other brands to follow suit.

Good American Always Fits Denim Line Makes Jeans That Fit 4 Sizes in 1 - InStyle

When self isolating was still a novelty there was some debate about whether we should be calling it the "COVID-15," the "quaranTEN," or a "pandemic belly." Whatever the nomenclature, it's clear that coronavirus-era weight gain was a widespread occurrence. The situational weight gain may have also translated to a change in clothing sizes — at least, that's something many realized once they made the switch away from sweats, only to find their favorite jeans no longer buttoned up. Annoying much?

Thankfully, revolutionary denim technology put forth by Khloe Kardashian's brand, Good American, touched down at exactly the right time to address this issue. Aptly named Always Fits, the line is constructed with denim that has double the elasticity of regular stretch denim, accommodating four sizes in each pair.

"We want women to know that they'll find the best fit possible, and we never sacrifice support and comfort for style," Good American co-founder Emma Grede tells InStyle. "We wanted to create a denim option that provides a guaranteed perfect fit seven days a week. The denim will mold to your body the more you wear them while still maintaining their shape and structure. They are absolute magic!"

In turns out, size fluctuation is not a phenomenon unique to 2020: According to the brand, the average woman changes sizes 31 times in adulthood, and can shift weight by five pounds in as little as a week. Rather than buying multiple pairs of jeans in various sizes, Good American is offering the opportunity to cut down your closet without sacrificing a comfortable fit.

Tall, petite, and plus-size women can all feel confident shopping the Always Fits collection. "We took a revolutionary approach to sizing and fit when designing this new category," co-founder Khloe Kardashian tells InStyle. "[We] created a focus group of Good American customers across a range of shapes and sizes to provide feedback and perfect the fit of each size category. We also studied thousands of women's bodies, outside of just Good American customers, to ensure the jeans work for all bodies."

You can now sell your old jeans to Levi's for gift cards between $5 and $35 - Insider - INSIDER

  • Levi's has launched a denim buy-back program called SecondHand at its US stores.
  • The program offers gift cards valued between $5 and $35 in exchange for used Levi's jeans.
  • The jeans are then resold on Levi's SecondHand marketplace website.
  • The company is also selling clothing and accessories made from upcycled denim at its concept store, Levi's Haus London.
  • Visit Insider's homepage for more stories.

Encouraging customers to rethink their shopping habits, Levi's is launching a denim buy-back program that will allow shoppers to sell their old jeans for a gift card towards a future purchase.

Customers can sell their old Levi's at participating stores across the United States. The sustainable program offers $15 to $25 for products that can be resold, and $30 to $35 for the brand's vintage denim.

If items are too worn out to sell, the brand will still offer a $5 gift card. All pre-loved items will be priced affordably, ranging from $30 to $100, at Levi's dedicated SecondHand marketplace.

"Buying a used pair of Levi's through SecondHand saves approximately 80% of the CO2 emissions and 700 grams of waste compared to buying a new pair of Levi's," Chief Marketing Officer Jennifer Say said of the eco-friendly initiative.

Alongside its secondhand program, Levi's is also launching a range of accessories and clothing made entirely from upcycled denim.

Constructed from the brand's back catalogue of faulty or returned products, the Levi's By Levi's collection spans tote bags to tie-dye jackets to embroidered jeans. The sustainable capsule is available exclusively at Levi's Haus London, a new concept store offering in-house tailors that will repair and rework customers' old Levi's items.

To participate in Levi's' buy-back program, head to the Levi's SecondHand website. The Levi's By Levi's collection is available at Levi's Haus London.
